Privacy Policy

The following describes the Privacy Policy of the Ancestris association and the Ancestris software.

Ancestris association
  • is a non profit association managed by volunteers
  • does not sell any product

  • The Ancestris software is only installed on the computer of the user
Advertising
  • The Ancestris software does not include any sollicitation to promote or buy any product
  • It does not allow to sell any product.
Data

The Ancestris software

  • stores all user data in the Gedcom files  indicated by the user
  • stores user settings in the user settings folder on the user computer
  • does not store any of your data outside of these files
Login
  • The Ancestris software does not require any login to any web site, including the Ancestris website.
  • The only existing login is for the forum in order to get support
Connections

The Ancestris software communicates outside of your computer in two instances:

  • When communicating to the Ancestris server at startup, when checking for updates, and when closing. This generates anonymous connection information that the Ancestris team is using to get volume information.
  • When the user compares their genealogy with other users on a deliberate basis and consciously indicating to include private information. In this case, the only information potentially shared with another user is the information the other user already has, which is the common information.
